5 Things All Moms Need

by Rebecca Gold 20 Sep 2023

We’ve heard it a million times but it doesn’t stop being true or impressive; moms are the real superheroines of our society. Motherhood is as difficult and taxing as it is beautiful and rewarding. Moms have so many responsibilities and their life can be downright demanding and exhausting. Between taking care of the kids, managing the household, and working, it’s no wonder moms tend to forget to take care of themselves. However, self-care is essential for moms to feel their best and be able to tackle everything on their to-do list. Here are five things that all moms need for optimal self-care, including some fitness apparel that can help.

Exercise

1. Exercise

When you’ve got a million things going on, it can be hard to make time for fitness. But exercise is crucial for maintaining physical and mental health, especially for moms who spend a lot of time sitting or standing. It helps with keeping you energized and feeling positive, which is absolutely needed for moms on the go.

Throw on some moisture-wicking sports leggings and a matching sports bra and go for a run; hit the gym, go for a hike or do some yoga. Getting active is absolutely essential not just for physical but also for mental health. Investing in high-quality fitness apparel like a comfortable sports bra and leggings can make workouts more comfortable and enjoyable. You’ll also feel more excited and confident when you’re hitting those fitness routines.

Quality Sleep

2. Quality Sleep

Moms are notorious for sacrificing sleep to take care of their families or get things done. Getting enough sleep is critical for physical and mental well-being. Moms should aim for at least seven hours of uninterrupted sleep per night to feel rested and refreshed. If you’re a mom, investing in comfortable sleepwear, like soft pajamas or a cozy robe, can help promote better sleep. Investing in creating a safe sleeping space can help too; if you have trouble falling asleep, sometimes listening to white noise or youtube videos featuring ASMR or ambient sounds can help; using calming herbs and essential oils in the bedroom, like lavender, can help. Drinking sleepytime teas that have herbs like chamomile, lavender, valerian root and more, can also help you fall asleep easier.

A Healthy Diet

3. A Healthy Diet

Eating a healthy, balanced diet is essential for overall health and well-being. Moms should aim to consume plenty of fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and healthy fats. Making the time to plan and prepare healthy meals can be challenging with all the different roles and tasks moms are juggling at any given time. Investing in a good quality blender or food processor can make meal prep more manageable, while comfortable clothing like stretchy leggings and loose tops can make cooking and meal prep more comfortable. Above all, plenty of hydration is super important and helps keep your energy levels regulated, your entire body functioning properly, your skin glowing and so much more.

Time for Relaxation

4. Time for Relaxation

Moms need to take a break from their busy lives and make time for relaxation. Whether it's reading a book, taking a bath, or meditating, finding time to relax can help reduce stress and promote well-being. Throw on some comfortable loungewear like soft, loose-fitting pants and cozy sweaters, curl up by a fire or by the pool and read a book, listen to some relaxing music, drink some wine and give yourself time to decompress. Ask your partner or family members to help with child care and create those moments for yourself.

5. Connection with Friends and Family

Moms need to connect with friends and family to feel supported and maintain their mental health. Making time for social activities like dinner parties, movie nights, or coffee dates with friends can help moms feel more connected and less isolated. Nowadays, there are even Facebook groups dedicated to busy moms who want to either connect and chat about similar topics or who want to take that extra step to hang out together. Whatever kind of social interactions you crave, make sure you make time to make it part of your lifestyle.
