Effortless Street Style
After a year and change of virtual meetings, digital socializing and cyber interactions, the world has been more than ready to hit the streets in style! Running errands is a whole runway these days - some of us are getting ready from head to toe glam just to stop by the grocery store, the dry cleaners or the cafes. If you’re excited about getting back outside, here are some effortless street style looks to channel as you go about your busy days!
Mixing Prints
Staying in so long has made everyone a little stir crazy - and maybe we all spent too much time trying on different outfits in our closets and decided - we’re going to just try it all on at once! Whatever the inspiration was for the mixed prints trend, it’s taken hold and spread like a wildfire! This Fall, take chances with prints. On many high couture runway shows, style experts saw a bold mixture of prints being worn together. Plaids and stripes are being mixed, knits and linen, florals of mixed sizes and more. Try mixing plaid with a floral top or stripes with camo, corduroy with jean or suede with satin.
Oversized
Go big or go home - literally! Whatever your favorite piece is, say it loud and proud with an oversized version! Love dresses? Don’t just wear any old dress - wear a MAXI dress. Love a good cardigan? Rock a large, baggy cardigan for that ultra cozy look. Into jean jackets? You get the point. Oversized is very in. Take advantage because not only does it look cool, but it looks effortless and feels OH so comfortable! A nice oversized jean jacket or plaid SHACKET over a matching set of leggings and sports bra + a pair of fire sneakers and cateye shades is the coolest look you’ll rock this fall!
Layers
With cooler weather, you’ll want to start layering naturally. But the layering look gives you an opportunity to wear multiple trends together. You can incorporate print mixing as well as oversized into layering; you can mix form-fitting with loose fit if you like, you can add fun splashes of texture like ruffled skirts under cardigans and so much more. This fall, the “Academia” look is very on-trend, so you can layer a pair of plaid pants or a plaid, pleated skirt with an oversized button shirt, layered with a knit vest over the entire look. You can push the look by adding even more layers, like tying a sweater around your waist for a very 90’s look + a crossbody chained purse. Layering gives you the opportunity to mix multiple looks in one. You’ll feel fearless and fashion forward when you start taking chances with this!
Dress Up/Dress Down
Another great way to play with street style is juxtaposing glam elements with super casual ones. Some great ways to do this is to marry a satin, long pleated skirt with a baby tee and some white sneakers; wearing a satin slip dress, normally seen during evening outings paired with some combat boots or casual white sneakers; bermuda shorts and Sperry’s or flats + a suit jacket looks like you’re serious about your weekend erranding. A pretty, feminine satin or even sequined tunic top paired with jeans and sandals is also a great way to mix dressed up elements with a dressed down, street feel.
