Summer is fading fast and soon we’ll be dressing for Fall. Don’t get caught off guard! Just like every other year, there are some emerging new trends on the horizon. Summer was full of neons and fun prints, but what does fall have in store in the fashion world? Here are some of the hottest trends, according to fashion experts and trendsetters, that are about to fall into stores, streets and closets near you this season.

Deep Jewel Tones

Deep Jewel Tones

Normally, we go from summery colors like corals, yellows, whites and bright reds to darker, more traditionally autumnal, rustic colors like goldenrod or marigolds, deep navy, dark brown and black. But this year, fashion’s obsession with bright neons and vibrant color is just not dying out. Pairing unexpected combinations of colors together, like purples and yellows, or purples and oranges; mango and magenta, electric blue and bright orange, or fuchsia and deep teal. Deep jewel tones are also in with athleisure and fitness gear. Vibrant colored and printed leggings and sports bras sets are the perfect look for Fall. Want to use them as street wear? Throw on a trenchcoat or a rainjacket - anything oversized and long-length - and you have yourself a whole errand-day look. Go bold with your color combinations this season!

90’s Style is Back: Plaids and Micro Florals

90’s Style is Back: Plaids and Micro Florals

The 90’s have had a strong presence for a few years now, but at this very moment, it is hotter than ever. If you hopped in the Delorean and went back in time, borrowed an outfit from anyone in the early to mid 90’s and came back to this time wearing it, you’d be the most stylish person in the room. From sheer stockings + combat boots to spaghetti strap crop tops, cardigans and pleated plaid schoolgirl skirts, from silk slips with baby tees on underneath to small frame sunglasses, from scrunchies to mini braids in your hair to butterfly clips - everything in that era is fair game. When it comes to prints, plaid is super in and also seasonal for Fall. The look for florals? Incorporate micro florals into key pieces like floral slip dresses or floral printed dress pants. 70’s style flare bottom pants with a micro floral print (A style that was cycling back around in the 90’s as well) is a great choice to pair with either a crop spaghetti strap top, a mini sweater vest or a baby tee.

Baggier Jeans and interesting stitching, patches and side lace-ups

Moms, your teen is right. Skinny jeans are out. Baggy or loose fitting denim is in. Time to update your jean drawer with some boot cuts and flares, straight leg jeans and mom jeans are in. Thankfully, we’re still counting high-waisted as on-trend and current, too, so no need to go low-rise! The fun thing about the looser fit jeans is that you can pair them with more form fitting tops. Whether you’re doing a pair of loose jeans + a crop long sleeve top or a cute, printed sports bra layered with an open, button up shacket over it, creating contrast with the silhouette is what it’s all about.

Playful prints and details on the jeans that are cycling back around include side lace-ups, embroidery, patchwork and painted designs on the denim.

Vests: Logo stitchwork, quilting, knit patterns and more

Yes, vests are back. Whether it’s a sweater vest, a light knitted vest, a long vest or a cropped one, this piece is coming back with a vengeance. It makes for a very chic academia look; pair it with plaid, white button downs underneath and pleated skirts with boots for a full-on blast from the past, 90’s style. Vests can be quilted, knit in intricate patterns, or feature logos imprinted into the fabric.

Matching Sets and Bare Midriffs

The matching top and bottom co-ord look has been going strong and is not letting up this Fall. Whether it’s a high waisted long skirt + a matching slim-fit long-sleeve top with just a sliver of your upper torso showing in between or a hoodie and basketball short matching set, it’s all fair game this season. The most effortless, erranding or busy-girl look is the matching sporty look - that means a matching legging and sports bra set - layered with a long line top piece, like a raincoat, a cardigan, a duster or a jean jacket. The color and print is up to you, but if you go with a matchy top and bottom set, you can bet you’ll be looking super hot and super in.
