Mommy and Me Mother's Day Date Ideas

by Rebecca Gold 21 Apr 2021

It’s almost Mother’s Day and now is the time to start thinking about what you’ll be doing to celebrate the big day! Don’t let the day go by with the same old card and flowers. Moms are incredible and there’s nothing like the bond between mothers and their kids. If there’s one thing moms want above anything else, it’s quality time. Give mom what she really wants - one on one time with you!

If you’re a mom with young daughters or sons, you don’t have to wait for the rest of the family to get involved - take an initiative and make those memories for yourself by planning your own mommy and me date with your little one. You’ll be so glad you did when you look back on all your mother’s days together.

Here are some awesome mommy and me date ideas that are great for both young kids and moms as well as adult kids and moms:

Mommy and Me Painting Date

A super fun, trending outing is a painting date. You sign up for a joint painting class in which an instructor will walk you through how to paint a picture together. These are great for both kids and adults. Some classes incorporate wine and alcoholic drinks, but of course, there are others that are kid-friendly. You’ll enjoy learning together and expressing your creativity! Plus, you’ll each have a special memento to take home and decorate with. It’ll be a constant reminder of the special day you had together!

Mommy and Me Horseback Riding

Who doesn’t love horses? If you have some stables and some farmland in the area, this is a great outing idea. You’ll both enjoy being in nature and spending time with animals. Horses are loveable, majestic creatures that induce feelings of joy and calm. Find a place that allows you to ride at your own pace. There are normally horseback riding outings and lessons catered to every level or rider. If you have young kids, you’ll love seeing the joy on their faces when they see the horses!

Farmer’s Market and a Picnic

If you’re looking for something more lowkey and chill, find a local farmer’s market to check out. These are great events that connect you with business owners in the community. You’ll love checking out the different offerings together - whether it’s organically made candles or honey, hand knitted crochet bags and accessories or unique jewelry, discovering new things together will have you and mom loving every moment. You’ll likely end up buying some tasty snacks or meals at the market, so bring a sheet or some chairs and find a local park or an open area, then enjoy lunch together in the sun!

Mommy and Me Yoga Classes

Throw on a set of matching Mommy and Me yoga leggings and matching tops and head to a local yoga studio! Or, if you prefer your workouts outdoors, find some yoga in the park or some rooftop yoga and soak in the rays as you stretch, hit those poses, breathe and take in moments of meditation and relaxation together. Doing yoga together will allow you both to connect on a spiritual level. It’ll also likely have you both feeling great and truly enjoying each other’s company.

Mommy and Me Spa Day

This is a traditional one, but it just never gets old. We can all use some TLC now and then. Take the day to treat yourselves to a spa treatment! You can book a spa appointment and indulge in massages, facials, saunas, manicures and pedicures if you want to do it all! But you’ll definitely need to call and book your appointment as soon as you can since this is a super popular thing to do. The closer you get to mother’s day, the more likely you are to be told that the spa is sold out for the day.

Booked too late or prefer to stay at home? Do an at-home spa day! There are tons of DIY exfoliators and face mask recipes you can have fun making together. You can also do skincare treatments, hair treatments and even have fun doing each other’s nails. Order your favorite meals for delivery and enjoy the day relaxing at home!

These are just some ideas, but there are so many others. Looking for something else? Here’s a list of more mommy and me mother’s day date ideas:
