Spring Break Travel Ideas for Families

by Rebecca Gold 18 Mar 2020

Spring Break is just a few weeks away and while the exact dates fall differently depending on where in the U.S. you live, you should be in planning mode now - if you haven’t already booked a trip. Take advantage of the milder weather as we transition out of winter and into spring and experience new places with the fam. Now is the time to make those 2020 memories a reality!

Here are some great destinations that are family friendly if you’re looking for where to go this Spring Break:

Pittsburgh,-PA

Pittsburgh, PA

This might not be the first thing you think of when you plan your Spring Break, but if you have young kids in the family, you’ll appreciate how kid-friendly this city is. It’s even nicknamed “kidsburgh” because of how many family friendly activities there are here! There are some great attractions like the Pennsylvania Trolley Museum and Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh. The Allegheny Observatory offers free tours and you can always check out Bicycle Heaven, a huge bicycle store and museum. There’s the Duquesne Incline that offers a spectacular view of the city. There’s Kennywood Park that features thrill rides and waterslides; then there’s the Pittsburgh Zoo and Aquarium, where your kids can marvel at the wonders of the natural world.

Florida’s-Nature-Coast

Florida’s Nature Coast

Florida is known for its beaches, but what many don’t know is that there are a great many freshwater springs and rivers throughout the state. Florida’s Nature Coast is a less explored region located on the Gulf Coast side that harbors Springs and State Parks like Ginny Springs, Three Sisters Springs, Crystal River, Rainbow River and more. You’ll find gorgeous emerald waters that you can canoe, kayak or going tubing on. You’ll be sharing the waters with river otters, spoonbills, manatees and even mermaids ( catch a real, underwater mermaid show at Weeki Wachee Springs.) You can go camping on most of the state park grounds, enjoy some grilling, bonfires and hiking through trails as well.

Niagara-Falls

Niagara Falls

This is a classic family trip destination that is on many people’s bucket lists. You can begin your journey with a Niagara USA Discovery Pass which allows you to enjoy multiple attractions like the Maid of the Mist boat ride and the Aquarium of Niagara for one price. A trolley takes you around the Falls state Park in New York, or you can hike around the falls.

Grand-Canyon

Grand Canyon

Another classic family destination is the Grand Canyon. This iconic national park is a bucket list worthy attraction that will offer your family breathtaking scenery to take in and endless memories to make. You can go rafting on the Colorado River, go hiking on the Rim Trail or traverse the Bright Angel Trail by mule. For memorable photos for the family, plan it out - get some matching printed tees or matching daddy and son and mommy-daughter outfits to rock in that vacation photo that will make a great portrait on your wall at home.

Disney-World-or-DisneyLand

Disney World or DisneyLand

For families with kids, this is the dream vacay! There’s nothing quite as magical as telling your kids you’re going to Disney! Hit the Mouse House with the fam and make it a celebratory family event by getting matching family tees or just matching mommy and me outfits - it’s a super cute way to make memories and to also help you keep your family unit together at the parks. You can choose to go to the original DisneyLand in Anaheim, California or to Disney World in Orlando/Kissimmee Florida.

The-Bahamas

The Bahamas

While the hurricanes did affect some of the islands in the Bahamas, there are still other islands that are open for tourism - and they can really use the business, as well! In fact, the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism & Aviation has urged people to help the islands recover by visiting. Atlantis Vacation Resort is still a popular destination where families can enjoy 5 miles of beaches, a water park, snorkeling and so much more. There are many other resorts and attractions throughout the 700 islands and cays. If you love sun, sand and ocean, you’ll love visiting this Caribbean nation. Stock up on some tropical printed vacation wear like palm tree leggings and sports bras, brightly colored activewear, light, breezy, floral tops and more!
