Spring Break is around the corner - and that means vacations to tropical destinations, pool days, beach days and fun in the sun! If you’re like most people, you might still be completely focused on the cold weather fashion since temperatures continue to maintain their wintery demeanors. The thought of a bathing suit when you can’t seem to put on quite enough layers to stay warm might seem a long ways away, but it will be spring before you know it. Spring is basically the pregame to summer since we start getting a preview of what to expect in next season’s swimwear trends. If you’re looking to strut into spring wearing the hottest swimwear trends of the year, here’s your style forecast to get you started.

Bold Prints

Bold Prints

If you love a good print, this is your time. Swimwear in spring and summer 2023 will feature a lot of big, bold, colorful prints. Everything from floral-printed bikinis to colorful stripes, retro patterns like psychedelic printed bathing suits to splashy looks like fruit-printed bikinis and monokinis will be hot on the sand this season. Pair with a cute pair of sunglasses, a cover-up for when you’re not in the water and a big-brimmed straw hat to achieve that heiress-soaking-in-the-sun look. Even the classic monokinis will be getting a nice splash of bold prints on them this year.

Vibrant Color Blocking

Vibrant Color Blocking

This is a trend we saw really gain traction in 2022 and since then, it’s picked up steam with no plans of letting up. The artsy color-blocking trend continues. That means monokinis with big sections of bright colors - both contrasting and complimentary colors are fair game. For bikinis, think of it as each piece or side having its own color. If you’re a fan of neutrals, go for nudes and chocolates; if you love that vibrant pop of color, magentas, pinks, greens and blues have been hot since mid-last year and will continue into this year.

Strappy and Criss-Crossed

Strappy and Criss-Crossed

This season, we’ll be seeing a ton of bathing suits with intricate strap designs. Whether it’s bikinis bottoms with multiple straps or bikini tops with double or triple straps on each side, or monokinis with criss-crossed backs - the strap game is about to go all the way up in spring and summer. This trend adds a layer of intrigue and creativity in the lines that the swimsuit creates on the body. There is a big emphasis on creating flattering and eye-catching silhouettes, not just in the overall shape of the body but also with how the fabric lays on top. Strappy bathings suits and criss-crossed designs will prevail this year.

Cutouts

Cutouts

We’ve seen plenty of cutout swimsuits already but this trend has had a death grip on the fashion world for some time now and it is not letting go any time soon. The bathing suit cutout trend is here to stay. Whether its with monokinis featuring a cutout in the middle or under the chest area, or across the ribs on side - you can expect to rock this design all season long right on into summer.
