Hottest Summer Fashion Colors of 2022

by Rebecca Gold 03 Aug 2022

The sun’s out, it smells like bbq and sunscreen, and the sounds of waves crashing and pool water splashing are filling the air - we’re deep into the summer season! That means plenty of hot new trends and joyful color palettes are taking over the fashion world. There are so many fun looks, prints and colors on beaches, the studios and in gyms. When it comes to colors, the trends for 2022 have something for everyone- from vibrant pinks to sunny, joyful yellows, from earthy browns to charming lilacs and more. Here’s a rundown of this season’s hottest hues in fashion:

Color of the Year – Very Peri

Color of the Year – Very Peri

Straight from the Pantone Color Studio, the color of the year is a shade of periwinkle meets lilac called Very Peri. It is playful, imaginative and inspires creativity. It has been on all the designer runways all over the world for this season and you see it in every fashion tier even down to the fast-fashion sites. This charming shade is a perfect pastel, very on-trend for the palette we’re seeing.

Baby Blue or Powder Blue

Baby Blue or Powder Blue

Think blue skies and Easter-eggs: then you’ll have the dreamy shade of baby blue or powder blue that is so hot right now. Traditionally, this hue has been more of a spring-related color, but this year, we’re seeing baby blue leggings and sports-bra sets in the gyms and yoga classes, baby blue dresses at brunches, parties and nights out, and baby blue tops and accessories on the streets. If you’re feeling like rocking a dreamy yet hot, trending color this summer, go for baby blue or powder blue look!

Bright Yellow

Bright Yellow

Think Chiquita Banana on a Sunny Summer Day. Makes you smile, right? This bright yellow color that’s absolutely everywhere this season elicits one thing and that’s simply joy. You can’t help but feel happy and energized with this color. Some great ways to rock this color are: a yellow heel paired with a white bodycon dress (Makes us think Piña Colada) a black minidress with a yellow heel; A bright yellow biker shorts and sports bra set; a bright yellow sundress for a relaxed sunday on the beach or a cute bright yellow flowy top paired with jeans for a casual day at the mall or running errands.

Dusty Rose Pink and Fuchsia

Hot tip: Mixing and matching pieces with different shades of the same hue > Mixing and matching different colors. This summer, think pink. Hot pink was a popular color on the runway from top designers at all this year’s fashion weeks. Bright, vibrant fuchsia exudes energy and a daring attitude. It says you’re fun-loving and not afraid to take chances. Dusty rose gives a romantic, feminine vibe that pairs perfectly with the hot pink tone. Rocking an outfit like a dusty rose minidress paired with a bright fuchsia blazer makes for a bold look for the office or a chic take on errands day. For date night or brunch, a fuchsia bodycon dress paired with coral or salmon heels gives fashionista-girl summer vibes.

Coral or Bright Red

Another color splashing across fashion runways this year was a bright coral tone. Designers like Vivienne Westwood, Balenciaga and Versace, among others, released looks this year featuring this hue. It’s an eye-catching, warm color that also brings the bold, daring energy fuchsia brings, but with even more decisive intensity. This color makes for a gorgeous hiking, workout or yoga look - think coral or bright red leggings and matching sports bra. Among a sea of neutral, muted colors, your bold color choice will bring confident energy into any room. A form-fitting, bright red bodycon dress is also an exciting choice for a night out. It says fearless femme fatale!
