Winter 2022-2023 Fashion Trends & Prints
With every season change comes a new wave of fashion trends and we’re here for every minute of it! We love keeping up with the seasons’ fashion trends and playing dress up! Fashion is an expression of who you are, how you feel, where you’re from, where you are and where you’re going; keep playing with trends and make them your own! Or, you can choose to ignore them and make your own rules. Whichever you choose, it’s always fun and interesting to know what the designers are experimenting with and what they’re bringing up - and often, reinventing. Here are the 2022-2023 Winter trends as seen from major designers in fashion weeks earlier in the year as well as trends we’re currently noticing on the streets, on social media and in everywhere else!
Winter Florals
Well this is unexpected…florals in the winter! Normally, florals are reserved for the warmer months. Traditionally, we see them bloom on blouses and dresses in Spring and Summer! Well, this joyful print has popped up through the snow and bloomed in winter! The slight variation is the oversized or larger floral print style that is dominating the winter looks. From floral printed tops to lovely, flirty floral dresses to decidedly feminine, floral-printed leggings, sports bras and athletic-wear. This is one fun surprise we love to see!
Cheetah and Leopard Print
This could technically be considered another classic print since it has been around for decades - but we felt it deserves its own section. A strong feminine theme right now is definitely feline-focused. There’s no shortage of fierce energy with this trend! Everything from Cheetah-printed dresses and skirts to leopard-printed gym wear, like sports bras and leggings, leopard printed coats, scarves and more have prowled the runways, the social feeds and the streets this year!
A Trip Down Memory Lane: Classic Prints and Preppy Layering
This season, we’re seeing a ton of classic prints and preppy looks making a comeback. Some of the super trendy looks are the classic Houndstooth print. In the past, this print has shown up in black and white the most, but in addition to this throwback combination, we’re also seeing some bright color combinations - from pink and green to yellow and purple and every other color combo you can think of. The scholarly gingham print is also back in full swing - that means plaid or gingham button-ups, dresses and tops. Another fashion trend that has taken hold like wildfire right now is the layered cable-knit vest over a more rigid, white button-up. Looks that make you think of school bells ringing, books and tests. The modern twist? Either chic, monochromatic neutrals OR bright pops of color and unexpected color combinations to make it all the more exciting.
Color Blocking
Designers have clearly been enamored with color-play this year. Beyond just bright color combinations in classic prints, we’ve also been seeing an interesting and quite artistic print trend: color blocking. Fashion designers have been playing a ton with avant-garde or ultra-creative lines, on clothing. Long-sleeved tops with misaligned color blocks throughout the fabric but all the while featuring electric, rich and highly saturated colors is a look that has jumped off runways and into the streets during winter 2022-2023.
