Dressing for the Best Parts of Summer: Sundresses and Beach Parties!

by Tina Bryant 12 Jul 2018

Summer days are the best days and we are 100% ready for all the seasonal activities that make it the best time of year! As warmer weather and more sun approaches, the fashion world is getting stocked up with all the strappy, colorful, airy, breezy options you were dreaming about during winter. It’s time for a fresh set of seasonal re-ups. Here are all the fun summer events you’ll want to shop for.

Dresses for Beach Parties and Pool Parties

The first thing on the Summer buy list should be a bikini. It’s not summer if you don’t do a couple cannonballs, paddle on a few kayaks, splash around on a few jetskis and shoot down a few waterslides, right? After you find that perfect summer bikini or two (or ten) the next piece you’ll need is a cute cover up (or ten.) Floor length dusters and sheer cover ups are having a moment right now and it’s not going anywhere. There’s something so comfortable and glam about slinking around in one. It’s the perfect way to stay lightly covered up while still having fun in the sun.

For beach parties and pool parties, light, comfortable beach dresses are definitely a requirement for you to have fun and look adorable. Light and airy, a white or yellow or pink beach dress that fits loosely will have you romping around in the sand without a second thought and still looking great. There’s nothing that says “I’m living my best life” than some photo opps of you and your besties, soaking in the sun in fun, floral sundresses!

Summer Weddings

Summer is the fun, sunny, joyful season - a perfect time to get married! If you find yourself invited to a summer wedding and don’t have the right dress to wear, summer cocktail dresses are the perfect choice to have you looking classy and appropriate while still staying comfortable. Whether it’s a brightly colored bodycon dress or flirty, above the knee empire waist dress, choose vibrant colors and upbeat prints for the season to keep the energy positive as you watch your friends or family say their vows. If you’re attending a beach wedding, the most romantic looks for a guest or a bridesmaid are long, flowy, light beach wedding dresses. Shift dresses and swing dresses are also a great choice for oceanside nuptials!

Brunches, Baby Showers, Bridal Showers, Even Errands

When the sun’s out, so is everyone else. Warm weather tends to create more social moments like baby showers, bridal showers, brunches, engagement parties and just regular errands. In the summer, especially if you live in the south, it can get pretty hot, fast. Keep cool with a light, breezy strapless dresses. They’re flattering for every figure, bringing attention to collarbones and shoulders. We’ve been seeing off the shoulder have its moment through the seasons for about 2 years now and the trend is only continuing to show up with slight variations. It’s still a go for summer 2018!

Summer Vacation

Last but definitely not least and our personal favorite, summer is vacationing season! Even if you’re not in school anymore, it’s still a great time to take a week or two off and chase the sun around the globe. Headed to Punta Cana in Dominican republic? Montego Bay in Jamaica? For your travel days, if you like to travel looking as cute as you plan to on the resort, rock a cute floral top with some jean shorts or a skirt is a comfy, casual way to catch that plane or boat, depending on where you’re headed. Once you get to where you’re going, you’re going to want to dive into your suitcase and have options when it comes to chic resort wear. Resortwear is anything that looks light, flowy and breezy, has joyful colors that match your environment and is above all, comfortable. Maxi dresses are on top of this list, but so are swing dresses as well as strappy tops and well fitting shorts. Make the most of your summer by getting some Vitamin D and doing all the things you dreamt of when you were cooped up in the house in winter when it was too cold to think. It’s a time to celebrate life, so dress for the occasion!
